At this point, most of you know the drill, but here is how the Tippspiel works.
Predicting the matches
First thing to do is to predict the final score of all the matches in the group stage. With 48 teams that will take a while, so bring a lunch. You have until one minute before the start of a match to add or change your prediction, which is right up to the game. But after that, scores are locked in, no exceptions.
Once the pairings for the knock-out rounds are known, I will add them and you can make your predictions.
The bonus questions
I’ve added a few bonus questions for extra points. Make sure you answer them before the set deadline.
The scoring
In the group phase the scores at the end of the game are used for the calculation of the scores. For final rounds the score at the end of the game including extra time is used. Goals in a penalty shoot-out are not taken into consideration.
As before, there are a couple ways to get points. Five points when you get the full score — the exact result of the match. Two points if you predict the correct winner or draw (that’s not the exact result) – the so-called Toto score. Finally, there is also a goal difference bonus: if you predict the correct winner and goal difference, but not the exact score, you get the goal difference bonus (e.g. you predicted 3-1 or 4-2 and result is 2-0). This also applies to draws – you will get an extra point if you predicted 1-1 but the final result is 2-2.

The golden ball
Each player has two golden balls. These are essentially two opportunities to double your points, so place them wisely. You may put them on every match and you can change your mind and move them as long this match is still changeable. The golden ball is activated after the prediction for the match is locked. Once activated the golden ball cannot be moved anymore.
Same ranking?
When multiple players have the exact same amount of points, then the following sorting rules are applied on the ranking (most important one at the top):
- amount of full scores;
- amount of toto scores;
- amount of correct bonus questions.
